With the California residential energy code moving toward a goal of all residential new construction achieving net zero energy, we must squeeze all the savings possible from buildings. Higher performance glazing may be one key to increasing the envelope efficiency necessary for achieving these goals. The majority of the windows sold today are still double-pane with Low-E glazing with only 2 – 3% being triple pane. Has the time come for the next big jump in window efficiency? Are manufacturers prepared to produce high efficiency triple pane windows? What are the builder’s concerns with transitioning to triple pane windows, and are they reasonable? This panel will address all these issues and more.
