Announcing Triple-Pane Windows
The California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP) announces incentives for an exciting new measure—thin-glass, triple-pane windows. Triple-pane windows fit in the same window openings as double-pane windows, are significantly more energy efficient than standard windows, and reduce the energy needed to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the home.
CAHP Project Application Deadline
The deadline for 2016 code program applications was October 1, 2019. However, in light of this newly added measure, CAHP will continue to accept 2016 code project applications for projects (see program flyer for additional eligibility details) adopting these thin-glass triple-pane windows while funding lasts. Funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
CAHP has doubled the high-performance fenestration bonus to $400 per home for installing these triple-pane windows and provides each home with an additional $6 per square foot of glazing (windows only). This is in addition to earning base incentives—so pairing the base incentive with bonuses may cover a significant portion of the incremental cost of installation. For more information on the requirements, please view the program flyer.
About Thin-Glass Triple-Pane Windows
Thin-glass triple-pane windows feature a very thin layer of glass in-between two layers of a double-glazed window, add a second low-e coating, and replace the argon gas with krypton gas, which is much more insulating than argon in the very narrow space between the panes. Triple-pane windows fit in the same sized openings as double-pane, so there is no need to redesign the window sash and frame for installation. To get started, please complete a project application.
